CorreLog CEO George Faucher will follow IBM Systems Magazine's survey results overview with insight on the security disconnect caused by enterprises working across the "two worlds of IT" (mainframe vs. distributed operating systems), and how to bridge the gap for complete, cross-platform IT security in his presentation titled "Bridging the Gap Across Mainframe and Distributed Security Policy Management." The presentation will include use cases as examples of what CorreLog has observed in the last decade helping clients secure z/OS environments.

"There's a disconnect between mainframe and distributed IT security policies due to the assumption that mainframes are inherently secure," said George Faucher, president and CEO of CorreLog. "Distributed SIEMs (Security Information & Event Management) often exclude mainframe security, yet data governance and auditing compliance applies to both systems. This survey shows us that mainframe security and compliance is slowly becoming a priority, and CorreLog is helping by offering solutions that will incorporate mainframe data into distributed SIEMs in real-time."

SIEM software platforms are the standard for distributed network security, but do not monitor the full scope of potential vulnerabilities unless mainframes are included. CorreLog has been working with insurance companies, financial institutions, and government agencies since 2008 to help secure mainframe data with real-time monitoring for user activity on the mainframe with its software product SIEM Agent for z/OS, and real-time monitoring for DB2 user activity with dbDefenderTM DAM Agent for IBM® DB2®.
